“Favorite Sport”
Basketball is my favorite sport,
It’s the game I enjoy.
You can play it whether you’re tall or short.
I like to see the defense thwart
The other team and annoy,
While defending the hoop like a fort
I also like dribbling down the court
Going through the defense like a Trojan from Troy,
Making the shot and getting my team’s support.
The most athletic plays resort
To jumping in the air for joy
There are other things of that sort
Many great players have played this sport
But the best player played in Chicago, Illinois
Everyone knew it when he came down the court
Basketball is my favorite sport
It’s been since I was little boy
I wish every country would import
It as its national sport.

You’ve got some clever rhymes here — nice attempt. I do think you could have extended some of the shorter lines. In my opinion, the longer lines are the most effective:
“Going through the defense like a Trojan from Troy” or “But the best player played in Chicago, Illinois”
